Dr. Hart graduated from veterinary school in 2017 and began her career with USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service as a public health veterinarian. She spent four-and-a-half years working alongside other federal employees in meat packing facilities (swine, poultry, sheep, and beef cattle), ensuring food safety and animal welfare in that setting.
Having learned a lot about livestock production and ensuring the security of the nation’s meat supply, Dr. Hart decided she was ready for a change and signed on as a contractor with Chewy’s Connect with a Vet service in August of 2022. In March 2023, she was hired as a Pet Health Representative, now Telemedicine Veterinarian.
Dr. Hart has enjoyed the client education and preventative medicine aspects of Connect with a Vet, as well as collaborating with other veterinary professionals. Writing and literature have been passions of hers since her undergraduate days, so being able to write for PetMD has been incredibly fulfilling. Dr. Hart particularly enjoys writing about behavior, nutrition, public health/epidemiology/infectious disease, and preventative health topics.
