Pet Adoptions Followed by Pet Returns

Post-holiday life has returned to normal ... for most of us. For those of us who have a new pet, we may be finding that our newest member of the family is too much to handle. This week’s feature article focuses on holiday pets that have been returned because people weren’t ready for them. If you - or someone you know - were considering adopting a pet, there’s no better time than the present. Overcrowded shelters need pet parents now more than at any other time of year.

Starting the year off right could start with a trip this weekend - to your nearest pet adoption center!

Bone Overgrowth

Symptoms of overgrown bones include painful, arthritis-like symptoms and swelling in the four limbs.

Asthma

Coughing and wheezing, both symptoms of asthma, are indications that require immediate attention.

'Extinct' Tortoise Lives

DNA samples taken from living ancestors of the giant tortoise may prove that the creature is still in existence.

Dingo

This once semi-domesticated breed has found a way to thrive successfully in the wilds of Australia.

Dress Up Your Pet

January 14 marks National Dress Up Your Pet Day. Here are ten reasons why you should indulge.

York Chocolate

Known for being very affectionate and bright, this farm cat forms strong and loyal bonds with its people.

A Case of the Giggles

Being a veterinarian is great, but I think one of the best jobs in history has got to be as an animal tickler.

Successful Adoption

Unfortunately for the innocent pooch, less than well planned adoptions often do not guarantee the best outcome.

Separation Anxiety?

Separation anxiety is a disorder of hyper attachment, where the owner’s departure elicits a panic response.
