Spalding County Animal Shelter in Griffin, Ga is a fairly small shelter that fills up fast. Pets here get a very limited amount of time before they are gassed! I am not, however, blaming this entirely on the shelter. They do give their animals as much time as they possibly can before they have no choice but to gass them. The shelter fills up. Unlike other shelters that have empty kennels and just PTS their animals just because they have reached their so called 'time limit.' HOWEVER, I am NOT saying that I aprove of helpless animals be gassed. This shelter needs help! People need to adopt from there. They are very easy to work with and you CAN ADOPT OUT OF STATE. All it takes is a fax and a $30 adoption fee. They are also very rescue freindly, adoption fee is free to rescue. Also, if people could cross-post about this shelter to let others know (craigslist, kijiji, dog forums, etc.) Finally, you can donate to the shelter or offer to foster in you live near by. PLEASE HELP THE PETS AT THIS SHELTER. WE ARE THEIR ONLY CHANCE. THEY DON'T DESERVE TO DIE! --Mastifflover48--

Try to give pets as long a time as possible, have updated website where you can view available pets.

I work with a rescue called Winging Cat/Kitty Rescue. They save cats and kittens from death row at shelters, mainly this one. At this shelter, animals are dumped off for free by irresponsible people and what's even worse is that whoever makes up the rules there decided it's a good idea to kill perfectly healthy and adoptable animals after even just FIVE business days. I don't know how this is legal or how this 'shelter' is allowed to operate. Reminds me of something I learned in history class that happened back in the late 30's/early 40's over in Europe *cough cough*\n\nNot entirely sure who's to blame.. as I don't know who does what at the shelter and all that kind of stuff...... but still.. how can you live with yourself if you are at this shelter seeing all this happen?\n

doesn't appear to be anything from all I've been told.

Uses gas chambers to suffocate animals to death, animals put down at end of week if they don't find a home

As I read through the shelters, I saw that you do not have a review. Thought I'd help you get started. Animals are what we are about in the animal welfare field. It truly is hard to get the funds to operate like we want, but there is only one thing we can do - keep trying. By having a shelter, I'm sure there are caring people about the animals in your community. I commend your efforts and say Keep up the good work.
