The New Jersey State Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) was established in 1868 for the protection of dumb animals. That mission continues today, as New Jersey State SPCA Humane Police officers are the most dedicated and well-trained animal cruelty law enforcement professionals in the State of New Jersey. \n\nFully-qualified New Jersey Police Training Commission-certified instructors ensure that our training is current as well as diversified for our agents, officers and investigators in enforcing New Jersey’s Title 4 Animal Cruelty statutes.\n\nThe vast spectrum of our basic, advanced and continuous in-service training topics range from the U.S. Department of Agriculture standards, firearms proficiency, use of force, self-defense, and much more; to the detection and identification, investigation, intervention and prevention of the practices of occult and ritualistic crimes, such as those resulting from the Santeria, and countless observances involving the needless and unlawful cruelty and the needless and unlawful killing of animals through ritual ceremonies which include animal sacrifice and the practices of discarding dead animals in cities and parks, along railroad lines and sidings, highways and roadways, and often in or within the confines of public recreation facilities. Our professional law enforcement training is extensive and ongoing.\n\nThe New Jersey State SPCA Humane Police receives over 7,000 calls each year and our police officers are available for response 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at no cost to the New Jersey taxpayer. We routinely handle high-profile and large-scale cases including dog-fighting and cock-fighting, in addition to our responses to complaints of general animal cruelty, abuse, abandonment, neglect, and ritualistic crime cases. Inter-agency cooperation provides the public with a seamless law enforcement response. \n\nWe are centrally located with our headquarters in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and our fleet of highly-visible, well-equipped patrol and response vehicles enables New Jersey State SPCA Humane Police officers to serve New Jersey citizens in every village, city, borough, township, and county and anywhere within the entire state of New Jersey.\n\nThe New Jersey State SPCA Humane Police is a recognized non-profit law enforcement organization. We care for hundreds of animals each year, and since we receive no federal, state or local funding, we rely on fines we have collected as a result of successfully prosecuting animal abusers, and through donations that are made by the public. We rely on the generosity of people like you, to accomplish our mission of humane animal care, while preventing animal cruelty in New Jersey. Thank you.\n\nTo Report Animal Cruelty or Neglect: Call 1-800-582-5979\n\nTo visit our web site, filled in detailed information, photos, videos and news stories of animal cruelty investigations and convictions and sentencing on animal cruelty offenders, please visit:\\n
