Do you think your pet is the best? The folks at Bissell want to prove you right. January marks the beginning of Bissell Homecare, Inc.'s third annual Most Valuable Pet Contest, in which they choose five prize winners based on which pet has received the highest number of votes for being "most valuable."

All five prize winners are showcased on the packaging for Bissell's specialty pet vacuum and awarded a Bissell pet vaccuum or deep cleaner designed for pet homes, and all receive monetary awards designated to benefit a pet charity of the recipients choice -- the top prize is $10,000! Each winner also receives a personal monetary award, the "perfect for you and your pet" shopping spree, with the grand-prize winner receiving $500.

In addition, throughout the voting period Bissell will also be awarding honorable prizes on a weekly basis for the top five most voted pets of the week. The top voted pet each week is awarded a Bissell vaccuum cleaner, and the five top voted pets are each awarded a $25 Visa gift card.

The entries garner votes from family, friends, and admirers of each respective contestant. And while votes can only be cast once per voter per animal, voters can cast votes for as many animals as they wish.

While any pet can be entered, the scales may be tipped in favor of cats and dogs, judging by those that received the popular votes for last year's contest. It also helps your chances if your pet is involved in service to the community. Last year's grand-prize winner, for instance, was Norman, a golden retriever in Ohio that is involved in canine service for the disabled, and the fourth place winner, Bailey (also a dog), gives his time five days out of the week for the Clifton Springs Nursing Home in his home state of New York.

The contest runs through March 25, 2010, with twelve separate voting periods, and the last day for submitting your pet for consideration is March 25, 2010.
