In a video uploaded by the TBS television network, magician John Stessel performed magic tricks for shelter dogs in an effort to get them adopted from the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter in New York City over the holidays.

The video was uploaded on Dec. 17 and already has garnered over a million views.

In the clip, Stessel makes dog treats and dog ball toys disappear. He performs these tricks for about a dozen shelter dogs; some have a surprised reaction, while others want to just play or solicit belly rubs.

According to the Good News Network, the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter will waive adoption fees until January 6, a tradition they practice every year.
