At the Mt. Ogden Golf Course in Ogden, Ohio, an unlikely duo is helping to retrieve lost golf balls from all over the course.

A 6-year-old yellow Labrador Retriever named Gabby and her owner, Arnie Smith, like to spend quality time together while walking the course and collecting lost golf balls from the woods next to the fairways.

Smith and Gabby used to just walk the course, but one day, Arnie thought that it might be fun for Gabby to learn how to retrieve golf balls. So he started training her to bring him back golf balls that he had thrown. It did not take long for Gabby to pick up on the “fetch a golf ball, get a treat” concept, and she quickly became a pro.

On a single, hour-long walk, the duo can collect between 30 and 40 golf balls. And while that is a great way to save money for avid golfers, the funny part is that Smith doesn’t even play golf.

So instead of using the golf balls for himself, he gives them back to golfers on the course and brings some to his local barbershop for people to take as spare golf balls. What a fun way to bond!
