Bravo! has issued a voluntary recall for 2 lb tubes of Bravo! Raw Food Diet Chicken Blend for Dogs and Cats due to possible Salmonella contamination.

The following product is included in the recall:

2 lb tubes of Bravo! Raw Food Diet Chicken Blend for Dogs and Cats, product code: 21-102, batch ID code 6 14 12 (Batch ID code is located on the plastic hang tag attached to the bottom of each tube)

The recall only affects products that were made on June 14, 2012. No other Bravo! products or sizes have been affected.

According to a FDA press release, the batch of recalled products tested negative for Salmonella by a third party independent laboratory. However, routine testing conducted by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture indicated that a single retail location did test positive for Salmonella. Due to the positive test result, Bravo! has issued this recall as a precautionary measure.

Salmonella can affect both animals eating the product and humans handling the pet product. If you or your pet had contact with the recalled product, you are advised to watch for symptoms that may develop. Common symptoms associated with Salmonella poisoning include diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain. If you or your pets are experiencing these symptoms contact a medical professional.

At the time of this release there have been no illnesses reported associated with this recall.

If you have an unopened recalled product, you may return it to the purchase location for a full refund. If opened, you are urged to dispose of the product in a safe manner and return the washed plastic batch ID tag to the purchase location for a full refund.
