IKEA has issued a recall for their LURVIG pet water dispenser due to a suffocation hazard for cats and small dogs.

The recall was issued after two reported instances of pets suffocating after getting their head stuck in the water dispenser. In a statement, Business Area Manager at IKEA of Sweden AB, Petra Axdorff, says, “At IKEA, the safety and security of our products is our top priority, which is why we have decided to recall the LURVIG water dispenser.” She continues, “We are deeply saddened by these events and know that pets are important and loved family members for many of our customers.”

IKEA is saying that customers should stop using the LURVIG pet water dispenser immediately and that it can be returned at any IKEA location for a full refund.
