Meow Monday

So, you really, really want a kitten. And why the heck not? They’re fluffy, purry, and adorable. Best of all, they grow into beautiful cats. While you might be willing -- and even eager -- to shell out a huge chunk of change for a purebred, we urge you to think about adoption.

In fact, here are the top five (new) reasons you should adopt a cat.

#5 Tailor-Made

If you wander into your nearest shelter, you’ll find cages and cages of cats, just waiting for a home. Some are kittens, some are adult cats, a suitable cat for everyone. Best of all, the volunteers and caregivers at the shelter are not only familiar with the personality of the cats and kittens, but they will put helpful signs on the cages, so you can find a cat that suits your lifestyle. It’s like online dating, but with cats!

#4 Ghandi-esque

Well, not really like Ghandi, but rescuing a cat will still make you feel all virtuous, because you’re doing a great thing. Not only are you choosing a loving companion (and improving your life), but you’re helping out an innocent creature that’s been abandoned through no fault of its own.

#3 A Cat is a Cat

A non-purebred cat is just as beautiful and fulfilling as an expensive purebred. Some of our very favorite kitties are of the mixed kind. So what are you waiting for? Go pick out a cat with an amazing personality and a face you simply can’t help but fall in love with … we’re not responsible if you decide to bring home two or even three kitties.

#2 Have Your Cake and Eat It, Too

In this day and age, jumping into the newest pet craze is becoming all too common. So if you're looking for a wonderful purebred cat on the cheap, an animal rescue may be the perfect place for you. Call up your local shelter(s), pick out your new best friend, and feel good that you just helped out a poor discarded cat.

#1 They All Deserve Love

How can anyone look into the face of a cat and abandon it? In this society, there are too many shelters teeming with unwanted cats. And these amazing animals simply desire a loving home and family. It’s what we all want. Especially the kitties of this planet. Best of all, what they give back in love and companionship and good times is a thousand times more precious than you can even imagine.

So, what are you waiting for? Your new best furry friend is just a hop, skip, jump away.

Meow! It’s Monday.
