Q. Our 14year old cat has always been well behaved. Suddenly he is jumping and lounging on kitchen counters, going places never used to go. Thoughts?

Answered By

A. Behavior changes in older cats can be related to many things. Hyperthyroidism is one disease that can cause behavior changes, but owners usually note cats to have a ravenous appetite and weight loss. It would be best to have your veterinarian perform a thorough exam and they may need to check blood work to find out what is causing your cats behavior changes.
