Q. My 1 yr old cat started throwing up undigested food several hours after eating, as well as having oddly green toned feces. What could be wrong?

Answered By

A. Unfortunately there could be quite a few different possibilities. The green feces could be caused by rapid transit through the GI system, which typically happens when there's diarrhea. I don't know how long the vomiting has been going on, however if it's been more than a few days you should get him checked out. The biggest concern I have (especially this time of year) is for a GI foreign body - something lodged in the stomach or intestine. Cats love to play with Christmas ornaments, especially long stringy ones, and they can cause serious blockages. Other possibilities include parasites or an infection. I think you should get your cat checked out ASAP.
