Q. How to clear up itchy hot spots on dog. Dog hz allergies. Grain & cereal removed from diet. Picky eaters(3-dogs).Suggestions

Answered By

A. Unfortunately food allergies only account for 10% of allergic dogs. Most of them are allergic to something in the environment, so simply changing the diet doesn't always work. Most of the time we are left with treating the symptoms of allergies - using drugs like antihistamines or anti-inflammatories to break the itch cycle. Some dogs have worse allergies at certain times of the year, but we still need to treat the urge to itch. If there are hot spots he may also have secondary skin infections, so he may need antibiotics. I recommend you seek the advice of a vet on this problem.
