Q. My golden was poked in the eye with fingernail and causing ulcer. Dye test shows the ulcer is healed, but his eye still weeps. What to do?

Answered By

A. I guess I'd question whether the ulcer is truly healed at this point. Clearly the excessive tearing isn't normal. If you're in an area with a veterinary ophthalmologist I'd recommend you seek a second opinion. Ulcers can be difficult to heal, however if the fluoresein stain test is negative and there is still tearing there may be another problem going on.
