If so, from your description I'm worried that he's still unable to urinate, and needs to be seen again immediately to determine if his urethra is blocked again. If you mean an IV catheter for 48 hours, I'd also be concerned that he's not urinating, since hydrating them with IV fluids typically means they'll need to eliminate urine. Either way he needs to be checked ASAP.
