Q. My chihuahua is 5months old and since we bought her she always eats her own poo, is this normal?

A. There is a product available in the U.S. Called For-Bid that contains MSG, which makes the stool taste very offensive to them. It's meant to be a training product, and if you follow the label directions it will tell you how to use it - it shouldn't have to be lifelong therapy as hopefully it will train her to being averse to eating stool. I always recommend checking a fecal sample for parasites as well, as parasitic infestation can also trigger stool-eating.

A. it's not unusual unfortunately but it's not normal and should be discouraged as it can lead to gastroenteritis. There are special products to put in her food that makes the stools bitter and it sometimes helps stopping this unwanted behavior.
