Q. Dog is Not eating, weight loss. Will drink water. Labs look normal abdominal X-ray was okay. Got better for a short time on steroids.

A. Steroids often improve appetite (it's a well-recognized side effect of those drugs), so sometimes dogs that aren't eating will seem to improve temporarily, But since in this case no real diagnosis has been reached the problem has persisted. If vomiting and/or diarrhea is also present, I'd consider an abdominal ultrasound in order to get an idea of what the inside of the GI tract looks like. If there's no vomiting or diarrhea I'd recommend chest x-rays to look for cancer in the lungs. Unfortunately not all diseases produces abnormalities on lab work so sometimes we have to look farther to identify the exact problem.
