Q. Dog is about 70 lbs has not been to bathroom for over 24. Hrs will not lay down or sleep he seems to be in pain is there something I can do at home

Answered By

A. I would take him for a check up. He may have eaten something and has an obstruction. If this is the case, he may need x-rays to confirm and meds from a clinic. Unfortunately, this isn't the type of thing to treat at home.

A. If he isn't eliminating, he should be seen and examined by your veterinarian to determine the cause. Your vet can express the bladder manually or catheterize your dog if necessary. It is important that your dog be seen, diagnosed and treated to avoid a build up of toxins in his system. Do not give any medications to your pet without the advice of your veterinarian.
