Q. My Golden Retreiver had a Convenia shot this morning. She has no energy and only went outside once. Is this normal?

Answered By

A. Convenia is simply an injectable cephalosporin antibiotic much like oral cephalexin. I have never seen lethargy from the antibiotic injection, but I would be curious why she needed the antibiotic in the first place. I would suspect the underlying infection that prompted the need for the antibiotic is what is causing these symptoms. I would observe him overnight and contact your vet in the am if not improved.
