Q. Cat treated with flea medicine few hours ago. Cat has vomited paw flicking acting lethargic,. We are washing with hand dish soap, please advise.

Answered By

A. Usually I see symptoms like this in cases where owner accidentally use dog flea products on their cats. Permethrin and its derivatives are toxic to cats. I have also seen it with flea products that are "older formulations". Washing with dawn dish soap is best but if symptoms are persisting a vet can administer IV fluids and dose with atropine to reverse the symptoms.
