Q. Will the parvo virus cause a dog to lose interest in drinking water. My pit bull has had two bouts of bloody diarrhea today.

Answered By

A. If your young dog is really having bloody diarrhea, you really should see a veterinarian. Parvo virus has less than 50% survival with no medical treatment, but over 90% with medical intervention. Usually when dogs have diarrhea, they will drink more to compensate, but there are other factors at play here. If you dog has a fever and is not feeling well then that may explain the lack of interest in water.
