A. Weight loss in cats is always a concerning sign. If the weight loss is more than 10-15% of his total body weight, it needs to be checked by your veterinarian. If it is less than that it could be normal.

A long list and variety of diseases can cause weight loss.

Ideally a consultation, blood test and urine analysis are the first steps to be able to give you more informations about the underlying cause. If, a part from the weight loss, there is muscle wastage then I would strongly recommend to take him to your veterinarian as soon as possible.
