Q. I have a 8 month old German Shepherd mix that has severe hip dislocation since birth. I am told total hip replacement is my only option by my vet.

A. I am assuming you are talking about hip dysplasia. Unfortunately this kind of disease can be with time very debilitating and in severe cases total hip replacement may be the only option.

To give you more specific information I would need to see the hip X-rays of your dog and evaluate the grade of dysplasia. You can post the x rays by requesting a consultation if you like.
