Q. My lurcher dog has been poorly and on 2 steroids a day for a year now. For meningitis. He has blotchy red marks on his tummy and is not well?

Answered By

A. Immunosuppressive treatment with steroids may cause side effects which generally speaking may include skin problems, liver disease, endocrine diseases and others. The red marks on his abdomen are possibly secondary to skin infection. I would recommend to take him to your veterinarian to have him checked an have appropriate investigations ( possibly blood tests) performed to understand the signs you are describing may be related to steroid treatment.
