Q. My 18 month Labrador has been having chronic fish breath. She eats the Blue Dog food, the chicken and rice formula. What could cause the fish breath?

Answered By

A. fish smell is very typical of anal gland impaction. Anal glands are two glands on both sides of the anus, they produce a very smelly liquid, many times it smells like fish. If the anal glands have been bothering her she might have been licking them and that might be the source of the smell. Take her to the vet to get her anal gland checked and possibly expressed.
