Q. How do u get a 6 yr old basset mix to take walks? He was chained up most of his life. His neck is scared. He is very shy. We adopted him 02/14/15.

A. A harness would be ideal, it will give you more control on his body and will not be associated with the neck traumas he had. You can buy one at any pet store.

A. I agree a harness would be a great tool to help with walks. I would also recommend doing a training class. Working on formal training helps to boost confidence, establish a bond between you and your dog and helps with general handling & socializing. I would try looking up some local classes.
