Q. Dog has slipped disk. Needs some meds and 7d of rest. He is otherwise OK. He's had undiagnosed lameness in rear leg for year. Can it be related?

Answered By

A. yes it could be related, slipped disks not only affect the back, they often affect one or more limbs, he might had a relatively mild slipped disk before that aggravated just lately and it is possible that it was the cause of the lameness. I hope he has a good recovery, rest is the best medicine in this case!

A. It is likely that the lameness could be related but it is really dependent on the disc that is damaged and the type of lameness in the hind leg. If the disc is damaged between the vertebrae L5-S1 it could result in hind leg lameness.
