Q. 3 year old neutered cat has worms almost constantly even with medication. He is losing hair in anal area and hind paws. Is this a side effect to worms

Answered By

A. When they have worms they tend to "scoot" their bum a lot, that might be the reason for loss of hair. Another reason might be fleas, as they are usually the source of worms (tapeworms). The flea is the median host of the worm, when the cat licks itself it ingest the fleas and then the worms grow inside.

Make sure to treat him for fleas every month with a good flea treatment (advantage/advocate) and worm him every 3 months.
