Q. My lab is 10yrs old & for the past day or so has gone off her food & is breathing more heavily than normal, should I be worried?

A. Yes, these signs at this age are very worrying. Heavy breathing could be a sign of heart disease (heart failure or heartworm). Difficulties breathing often lead to lack of appetite.

You should take her to the vet today in order to get it checked, she might need to have a blood test done and possibly an Xray as well.
