A. These might be signs of a chronic upper respiratory infection. These infections are common in cats abd are treated with antibiotics. Because it might be an old infection in his case he might need a longer course f antibiotics than usual.

The cough, although likely related to the infection, might be a sign of furballs. When you go to the vet you can ask him for hairball paste as well, then give it to him regularly.
