Q. My vet said that my dog was a irritated colon and recommended chuck and rice for without medication, but now it is worse and he acts he's in more pain

A. Irritated colon is often IBD (irritable bowel disease), if food therapy doesn't work, it is usually advice to put the dog on a long course of antibiotics (4-6 weeks), it that doesn't work either your dog will need to be on steroid medications for the rest of his life.

By irritated colon your vet might have meant - gastrointestinal infection. If this is the case your dog will need a short course of antibiotics and possibly anti emetic medications.
