Q. hi, my cat is 16 pounds and clearly needs to lose weight. How many ounces should i feed him every day? I am switching him on a kitten diet. He is 4.

A. Do not do that, he will gain more weight! you need to put him on a "light" or "restricted calories" diet (dry food), the amount to be given is written on the back of each bag. you need to calculate this according to the desired weight and not his current weight.

Prescription diet such as "obesity" from royal Canin will do a better job than a normal over the counter light diet.
