Q. My 2 year old Bichon constantly laps herself. She will concentrate on one spot like the long nail on her paw. We have tried everything to stop.

A. Licking of the feet is a sign of food allergies (especially the front feet). It is advised to start a limited ingredient diet (i.e. Evo (over the counter) or prescription Royal canin hypoallergenic hydrolyzed protein, Hill's Z/D) for a minimum of 2-3 months. Also if the nails are brown at the base, this is typical of a fungal infection and can be managed with anti-fungal fungal, which can be found at some petstores and at your local vet.
