A. Adequan is a preferred treatment for arthritis in cats. There are also some other treatments that can be used along with Adequan such as:

1) Therapeutic diets : Medi-Cal; Royal Canin Mobility Support and Hill's Prescription Diet j/d) that contain omega-3 fatty acids (EPA, DHA),

2) Joint supplements such as glucosamine and chondroitin

The Royal Canin diet also contains green-lipped mussel extract. Some data have been published indicating these diets may have beneficial effects in cats with arthritis such as improved mobility and decreased pain.
