Q. My cat seems to have cold but his eye is all red he is about 8 month old now he is still really playfully and sleep a lot will he be okOK?

A. Young kitty's with eye infections and cold symptoms are often infected with herpes virus and/or calicivirus. These cause eye discharge, 3rd eyelid protrusion and sometimes redness. However with viral infections kitten area also having either sneezing or coughing episodes as well. I recommend an anti-viral treatment called Lysine powder or gel for kitty's with suspicious viral infections and also an antibiotic if there is evidence of a secondary bacterial infection. Schedule an appt with your vet for an exam and he/she can prescribe the medications that your kitty needs.

A. Your kitty probably has cat flu. You need to take him to a vet who will make sure that the eye is still ok, and probably prescribe antibiotics which should help that quite quickly.
