Q. My 4 year old westie claws have fallen out some removed by vet, claws tested and blood tested all clear! They are growing back but loose which is pain

Answered By

A. Nail issues are commonly caused my yeast infections under the nail bed, and immune mediated disease such as Discoud Lupus. I would recommend an antifungal wipe +/- oral antifungal meds if yeast are suspected and also a trial of Cyclosporine (immune suppression) or Atopica can be tried if the vet suspects lupus most likely fits your pets presentation. Preferably blood testing specifically for Lupus (which is not your general blood woke profile) and/or a biopsy of the tissue is good to do before treatment but can be expensive, so discuss this with your vet to see if this is something that can be done feasibly.
