Q. My 6 month old Siamese kitten was recently diagnosed with feline leukemia. He was also diagnosed with demodex mites. cheapest most effective tx?

Answered By

A. The cheapest most effective treatment for generalized demodexx mites long term, has to be ivermectin. Some hospitals like to mix the ivermectin with cherry syrup for flavoring but you can request a possible plain ivermectin dosing which is considerably cheaper than the mixed version. If your vet does not offer this shop around for a vet who has the conversion table to make this up for you. If you try the topical treatments for demodexx, such as Advantage multi, these generally take longer to rid the mite and have increased risk of pyoderma (skin infection) along the way.
