Q. I have a 7 year old Cavalier and she snores all night.. She is 5 pounds over weight. Is there any safe thing we can do to ease her breathing?

Answered By

A. I am afraid weight loss is the key to reducing her symptoms, the extra weight she is carrying is narrowing the space for her airways. Making sure she is not too hot and the room is well ventilated will help but there is no medical treatment which is likely to improve snoring. If she is breathless at rest or has difficulty sleeping she should be assessed for medical support of her breathing but this will be less than successful if she is still overweight
