Q. My lab stopped jumping on the furniture, playing with toys. Is lethargic, still eats & drinks. No fever. We can't figure out where the pain is.

A. I would be very suspicious of hip pain in a labrador having difficulty jumping, stretching and playing, even if he is ok walking. A physical exam and possibly x-rays would rule this in our out. The sooner you start a management plan if there is arthritis developing the more mobility he will retain - specific diets, supplements, exercises and warm, soft bedding can all help, as can careful weight management
