Q. My pit bull mix is always shaking his head. I have to flush my eats cam a dogs ears also be flushed? Our vet said she has never seen a mite in oregon

Answered By

A. Head shaking and ear inflammation can be due to ear mites but allergies, yeast and bacterial infections are more common. If the ears appear clean without a large volume of discharge an allergy is more likely. Your vet may be able to prescribe an ear cleaner / flush with added antiinflammatory may provide some relief. A skin allergy specific diet, fish oil supplement and medicated drops may also be required
