Q. Our dog has been placed on "Previcom 227 mg. I would like to know what this medicine is and what the specific makeup is? Thanks, Dog Lover - Jim

A. I presume you mean 'Previcox' (firocoxib) which is a non-steroidal antiinflammatory medication used to treat pain and inflammation especially that associated with arthritis and surgery. It works by preventing your dog from making the messenger chemicals which produce the inflammation. The benefits will cease if you stop giving the medication and it does not cure the underlying problem but relieves pain and discomfort whilst you use it
