Q. My 10 yr old lab has breast cancer and has been leaking milk for awhile.. She is getting aggressive and I don't know her anymore she just lays around

Answered By

A. I suspect that she is in pain, both from the tumor and possibly from an infection if the mass is discharging. I recommend you reassess her pain management and comfort levels and to discuss options to improve her comfort and quality of life. If her behavior is becoming unpredictable, it is important also to assess your safety and that of any other family members or pets she may be in contact with. There is a useful assessment sheet which can help to focus on her needs and your expectations and may provide a framework for you to assess her needs and to focus discussions with your vet in relation to her pain and other medications.
