Q. My dog had toggle rod surgery and it went well.All of a sudden after a week, he seems to be shaky,wobbly,even falling.Looks swollen too,but not red.

A. It is vital you arrange a post-op check as soon as possible to investigate the cause of these new signs. Infection or injury to the repair may be present - if there is fever (panting / hot ears and nose) an emergency appointment is required. Otherwise keep him restricted to a soft bed with limited toilet walks until you can meet the original surgical vet practice
