Q. The past two nights my dog has been running between rooms and acting weird. Once you pick her up she just acts dazed. What could be wrong with her?

Answered By

A. Anxiety or pain can cause such erratic behaviors. If there have been any routine changes this may account for her unusual behavior and she may take some time to settle if this is the case. Common sources of pain or discomfort without obvious external signs are anal gland, neck and back pain so it would be recommended to schedule a full physical exam if this does not resolve. Internal concerns such as liver or kidney dysfunction or neurological issues such as seizure activity or cognitive dysfunction (dementia like condition) would also be possibilities but would be much rarer.
