Q. My shih thus is seventeen and is having recurring issues with her regularity. The cycle is regular for about two months then constipated the next diar

A. You should add extra fiber to her food and make sure she drinks enough water. An excellent fiber source is canned pumpkin (not pie filling). Add one or two table spoons to each feeding. Also have her anal sacs checked regularly by the vet. If she has impacted or inflamed anal sacs, it may hurt to eliminate, and she might try to avoid it, which in turn dries out the feces and causes constipation.
