Q. my 3 year old cat is going for her annual physical and her vet prescribed that she takes 10 mg 2 hours before since she is feisty. Is 2 hours good?

Answered By

A. Benadryl is often prescribed for anxious or aggressive cats prior to a vet visit to help calm them. The usual dose is 1 mg per pound (or 10 mg if you cat is 10 lbs). An interval of 2 hours prior to the visit should be fine. However, please understand that Benadryl will not knock your cat out - just make it calmer, more tractable for easier handling.
