Q. My 8 month old pitbull has a high temperature, extreme lethargy, and cries when trying to stand up. What's wrong?

A. There are a number of things that may be causing your pup's symptoms. Abdominal pain from a bacterial or viral infection or ingestion of a foreign body are all possible, as are some orthopedic disease that occur in young dogs, such as panosteitis. I recommend getting your dog in to see a vet right away for an exam, labwork and x-rays in order to determine the reason for your dog's illness and get him started on treatment so he can have some pain relief.
