Q. Puppy is 7 months old seems dehydrated a little and is scooting behind on floor

Answered By

A. Scooting in puppies usually indicates a parasitic infestation, either fleas or intestinal parasites. I recommend getting him in to see your vet as soon as possible for an exam and fecal analysis as well as deworming, regardless of the fecal results. A negative fecal doesn't always mean that no parasites are present, it just may mean that no eggs were found in that particular sample. After all, just because you don't catch any fish doesn't mean the lake is empty. Based on the results of the exam and labwork, your vet will have a better idea of what is going on with your puppy and be able to make appropriate treatment recommendations.
