Q. My dog was diagnosed with Addison dz in june but for about 2 month now she started losing hair her entire ventrical side has no haira nd its spreading

Answered By

A. Hair loss is often seen in dogs with Addison's disease. If the dose of steroid is not correct, they can also develop latent Cushing's disease, which contributes to the hair loss. Make sure to get her in for her follow-up appointments and bloodwork to make sure her dose and blood values are all correct. If the hair loss doesn't resolve in a few months, get your vet to run a serum thyroid panel to determine if her thyroid is producing the correct amounts of hormone. Many dog's with Addisons will develop secondary hypothyroidism.
