Q. Hi I have a 1 1/2 year old Rottweiler/lab mix. He is very lethargic, won't eat, drinks a little, but mostly lays around. Any ideas of what is wrong?

A. Lethargy can be caused by a wide range of conditions. Rule out GI upset, dietary indiscretion or infection as some of the more common causes. Try feeding a bland diet (1:1 ratio of plain boiled boneless chicken and plain white rice). Feed in small, frequent amounts and serve it warmed or mix in some baby food to stimulate the appetite. If this doesn't help, an exam and diagnostics with your vet is recommended.
